XFdtd Research Engineer (Level 3)

Remcom is seeking a self-motivated Research Engineer to conduct research and development for our full-wave electromagnetic simulation product, XFdtd.


  • Routinely review literature for computational methods which may provide value to XFdtd

  • Introduce new research topics through the preparation of research proposals

  • Independently conduct research projects including the development and testing of research code and preparation of research reports

  • Provide support to the XFdtd development team during implementation of new computational features

  • Maintain a consistent presence at scientific conferences including the preparation of oral and poster presentations

  • Contribute to proposal preparation for research and development funding from both government and private sources

  • Conduct research in support of current contracts and contribute to the preparation of status and final reports

  • Conduct testing for new XFdtd features, document results, and provide feedback to the XFdtd development team

  • Prepare application examples of complex problems for use by the Sales, Support, and Marketing departments

  • Contribute technical documentation for XFdtd’s computational features

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in electrical engineering or a related field, M.S plus 2+ years of relevant computational science work experience, or B.S. plus 4+ years of relevant computational science work experience

  • Prior experience with computational electromagnetic methods

  • Prior experience with C++ and object-oriented programming

  • Prior experience with high performance computing, parallel programming, and numerical libraries

  • Prior experience with Matlab and computational EM, physics, or EDA software products
